One Community Health

One Community Health (formerly La Clínica del Cariño Family Health Care Center,  Inc.) is a nonprofit, federally qualified, community and migrant health center serving communities in the Columbia Gorge area, which includes Hood River and Wasco counties in Oregon and Klickitat and Skamania counties in Washington. The organization currently has approximately 10,000 active medical patients and 5,000 active dental patients.

Oral health services
One Community Health facilities in Hood River and The Dalles offer preventive and general dental services for children and adults, including:

  • Dental cleanings and exams
  • X-rays
  • Periodontal scaling
  • fluoride and sealant application
  • Restorative fillings
  • Extractions
  • Pulpotomy / limited root canals

Services focus in particular on dental care for families, pregnant women and patients with diabetes. One Community Health also works closely with health promoters to identify children in need of dental care and provide them with preventive care and fluoride supplements.

Grant purpose
One Community Health received a planning grant to develop a sustainable and coordinated school-based oral health program for underserved elementary and middle school children in Hood River and Wasco counties.
