La Clinica del Valle Family Health Care Center (now known as La Clinica) was founded to serve the needs of the migrant and seasonal farm worker community in Jackson County. In response to increasing need for affordable primary and preventive health care, it has expanded to serve the entire community.
La Clinica offers services through six neighborhood health centers, nine school-based clinics and a mobile health center. As of 2015, almost 90,000 people in Jackson County fall within La Clinica’s target population for dental care.:
- Preventive care
- General dentistry
- Children’s dentistry
- Endodontics (root canals and nerve therapy)
- Oral surgery (extractions)
- Emergency care
- Digital X-ray imaging
- Referral services
- Dental hygiene education
La Clinica also provides free, school-based dental screenings, fluoride treatments and sealant services through the Happy Smiles program.
La Clinica received a grant to expand its Happy Smiles program to serve rural schoolchildren at Patrick Elementary School in Gold Hill, Scenic Middle School in Central Point, and Hanby Middle School in Gold Hill, and to hire an Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist (EPDH).
